Things to Do Near Uluwatu, Bingin & Umalas

Beaches, surf, sunsets and slow days: a simple guide to what to do near our villas in Uluwatu, Bingin and Umalas, Bali.

Our villas sit in three of the most loved corners of Bali. The Bukit Peninsula (Uluwatu and Bingin) is all about cliffs, turquoise water and world-class surf. Umalas is greener and calmer, with rice fields and easy access to Canggu and Seminyak. Here is how to spend your days, whichever you choose.

Uluwatu & Bingin

  • Uluwatu Temple at sunset: a clifftop sea temple with one of the most dramatic sunset views on the island, plus the traditional Kecak fire dance in the evening.
  • Bingin Beach: take the stairs down the cliff to a small reef beach with tide pools, warungs and a relaxed surf crowd.
  • Padang Padang: a small, sheltered beach reached through a gap in the rocks, great for a swim when the sea is calm.
  • Melasti Beach: white sand and clear water below tall limestone cliffs, ideal for a lazy beach day.
  • Surfing: the Bukit is famous for its reef breaks. Beginners can book a lesson on the gentler days; experienced surfers will find some of Bali's best waves.
  • Yoga and recovery: the area has plenty of yoga studios, gyms, ice baths and massage spots, perfect for a reset trip.

Umalas

  • Rice field walks and cycling: quiet lanes, green views and a slower pace than the beach towns.
  • Cafes and healthy food: Umalas and nearby Canggu are full of smoothie bowls, plant-based kitchens and great coffee.
  • Beaches nearby: Berawa, Batu Bolong and Echo Beach are a short drive away for sunsets and surf.
  • Easy day trips: Tanah Lot temple, Ubud and the rice terraces are all reachable for a day out.
