The Best Beaches Near Uluwatu and Bingin: A Local Guide

The Bukit Peninsula in South Bali has some of the island's most beautiful beaches, tucked below limestone cliffs and washed by clear, turquoise water. Staying in Uluwatu or Bingin puts them all within a short ride. Here are our favourites.

Bingin Beach

A steep set of stairs leads down to this small reef beach, lined with simple warungs and guesthouses. At low tide the reef forms rock pools you can wander through; at higher tides it's all about the surf. Bring cash and stay for sunset.

Padang Padang

Reached through a narrow passage in the rocks, Padang Padang is a small, sheltered cove that gets busy in the middle of the day. Go early in the morning for the calmest water and fewer people.

Suluban (Blue Point)

Right below the cliffside cafes of Uluwatu, Suluban is hidden between rocks and caves. It's best visited at low tide, when you can walk out and explore. The cafes above are a great spot to watch the surfers.

Melasti Beach

A road cut through the cliffs leads down to Melasti's wide stretch of white sand and calm, clear water. It's one of the easiest beaches on the Bukit for swimming and a full lazy day.

Dreamland & Nyang Nyang

Dreamland is a long, sandy beach with plenty of space and bodyboarding waves. If you want real quiet, Nyang Nyang is a long walk down, but you'll often have huge stretches of sand almost to yourself.

Beach tips

Check the tide before you go, as several Bukit beaches change a lot between low and high tide. Swim only where it looks safe, wear reef shoes on rocky beaches, and bring water, cash and sun protection.

After a day in the sun, there's nothing better than coming back to a quiet, private space to rest. Our villas and suites in Uluwatu and Bingin are made for exactly that.
